Coffee Break
Today a sweet friend of mine came over to have a cup of coffee and chat. Her kids are all grown up, so this was purely time for me. Kenny was the model child – he played at our feet with his blocks, and only got antsy towards his lunchtime. The strangest thing, though, was that my constant talker said nary a word but “Dudley” during my friend’s hour and a half visit. This is the kid who never stops talking, yet he babbled baby-talk and giggled non-stop.
On her departure, he suddenly looked up and said, ever so clearly, “Where’d Miss Suzi going?” Then proceeded to give me a detailed diatribe on exactly what he wanted for lunch (“Ter-key sanwish, go-cheese (goat cheese – yes, really) an’ chips”), where he wanted to eat (“Eat on da porsh! (porch, that is)”) it, and when he would be all done (“Kenny eat it all up and be all-done!”). What a stinker.
By the way, Dudley has been chewing on his “blankie” since we brought him home from the breeder. This is blankie #5. He does it when he’s tired at night, or when he doesn’t know what to do with himself and there are people over. Note to LancyPants… does Lance do this? I’ve heard that many weims do it by nature…
Kenny is such a riot! I love that picture of him and Dudley. And Dudley looks so cute with his blankie (#5)!

Lance most certainly does. If you were to visit and look in his kennel you’d think we neglect him since instead of a normal comfy cushion and blanket (like the normal dog, George, has), Lance has a nest of rags. He rips them up, and then roots around until it’s the perfect little place to sleep. It’s amazing how much is nature…sort of comforting…maybe not all his crazy tendencies are a result of our sub-par dog raising. Glad to hear you guys had a great day!

just a note to tell you how much i enjoy your blog…..i am fascinated and thrilled with the future prospect of having kids, however my husband and I are still a few years away from parenthood. Until then I get my fill of babies through stories of my colleagues at work and through your blog. While I am never happy to hear about a person’s hardships, from a reader’s perspective I love the honesty of your blog – both in your descriptions of your sorrows and your joy. None of my good friends are anywhere near the vicinity of being married so I have never been able to communicate with someone (other than my husband) how amazing I believe marriage to be. Reading your descriptions of how you feel about your husband makes me smile, as I feel the same way about my husband and so many others are lucky enough to feel that way about theirs. In a world where everyone’s focus and goals are different, your blog is a real inspiration to me. There are so many amazing things to do, buy and see in this world, but the one that excites me most is the idea of creating a family with my best friend. Your honest depiction of that life is more enticing than all the other glitz on the web. When my friends feel like daydreaming they go to sunquest.com to find out what the deal of the day is and dream of a one week get away from their current life…..i go to mommyblog.com and smile because it depicts a life I one day will likely have…..keep up the blog…..ps, pretty cute kid 😉
